6-D: Thematic Painting Reflection. March 5, 2013
1. I think that the strong part of my painting is my unicorn because he looks really nice.
2. I think that I could have done better with my colors because I didn't really blend anything together and it doesn't look very good.
3. The unity of my painting is a unicorn, and I painted it because I like unicorns, they make me happy.
4. The colors in my painting are rainbow, because I painted a rainbow in my painting. I also used white for my unicorn. The rainbow colors make it look happy.
5. My unicorn is white so that is light, same with my clouds. And my rainbow, grass, and sky are dark?
6. I learned that it is very hard to mix colors to get a pretty green that I like. I know now to go to Hobby Lobby and buy an already pretty green paint.
7. I drew a unicorn for one of my preliminaries, so I did that. Then I drew out my design and painted my rainbow first, then the sky, then the grass, then my unicorn. Nothing really changed. I planned it all before.
8. Yes I think this is a worthwhile project. It is good to be able to get to try it. Even though I really did not enjoy this project, I think that it is a good idea to still do.

Exceeding Paper: Bruce The Unicorn.
Once upon a time there was a unicorn named Bruce. Bruce was white and had pink hair and a pink horn. He lived on the east side of a forest called RainbowLand. Strangely enough, RainbowLand doesn't have very many rainbows. There is only one rainbow in the forest at a time, and it changes locations often. RainbowLand was a magical forest where unicorns and Pegasus’s lived. Not to get confused with each other, a Pegasus has wings and can fly; unicorns do not have wings, so they cannot fly. Yes, there is a difference.
One day Bruce was walking through the forest picking burburberries off of burburberry bushes when a leprechaun came out behind one of the burburberry bushes.
"Hello," said the leprechaun, "My name is Eugene. I have been sent to you by the queen of RainbowLand."
Bruce looked at the leprechaun puzzled and asked, "What does she want from me?"
"Well," Eugene began, "it seems as though our rainbow dust supply is running low. And you know what that means, Bruce. Without rainbow dust, all of the unicorns and pegasus's lose their magical powers," He paused to catch his breath and continued, "The queen is counting on you to find the rainbow to collect more rainbow dust before it all runs out."
Bruce thought about this long and hard, but in the end it was a pretty easy decision. "Of course I will find the rainbow!" replied Bruce.
Eugene smiled, pleased to hear this. "Fantastic!" He said. "Now go on your way Bruce! We only have a few more days left!"
With that, Bruce was on his way to find the rainbow. After a few hours of walking farther into the forest, he began to become very sleepy. He decided that it would be a good time to call it a day and go to sleep.
He awoke in the morning to a rustling sound. It started to come from behind a burburberry bush, and then started to come from all of the burburberry bushes surrounding him. Bruce began to panic. Suddenly, a little bunny jumped out from behind one of the bushes.
"Whew, that was a close one." Bruce said to himself.
But he spoke to soon. One by one all of the bunnies started hopping out from behind the bushes. But these bunnies didn't look like the normal, cute and cuddly bunnies, these bunnies looked evil. Just as quick as they appeared, the bunnies started to bite Bruce. One after another after another. Before long, all of the bunnies were attacking Bruce. He stumbled to the ground because of all the pain. Then out of nowhere, he heard a galloping sound quickly coming closer to them. The bunnies scattered away, scared of whatever it was, so Bruce stood up.
A female voice said behind him "You must not be from around here. They don't like strangers."
Bruce turned around to face the prettiest unicorn he had seen in his whole life. She was dark gray and had the most beautiful yellow hair that flowed back in the wind.
"Welcome to the west side of the forest," she continued. "My name is fern, by the way. Sorry about all that. This side isn't all that bad."
"Hi, I’m Bruce. I'm from the north side of the forest," Bruce said.
"Hello Bruce. What’s brings you to the west side?" Fern asked.
"I was sent on a mission by the queen to find the rainbow. It seems that we are running low on rainbow dust, and are going to lose our magical powers unless I find it soon," Replied Bruce.
"No more magical powers? Bruce, you must find that rainbow soon! Don't let us run out of rainbow dust. Unfortunately I haven't seen the rainbow around here for quite some time."
"Okay," Bruce said. "I better be going then! Only a few more days till all of the rainbow dust is gone. Thank you for all of your help!"
"It was nice meeting you Bruce! Goodbye," Fern said.
Bruce went on his way again, deciding to head south this time. It was a long journey, and by the time he got to the south, it was already dark outside. He decided that it would be a good idea to sleep then, and look for the rainbow there the next morning.
Bruce awoke the next morning to Eugene standing over him.
"What are you doing sleeping, Bruce? We are in the middle of a major crisis! Eugene yelled at Bruce.
"I'm sorry! It was dark and I was tired, so I decided to go to sleep," answered Bruce.
Eugene sighed before he said, "Okay, well good thing that you are awake! Better get a move on now!"
So Bruce got up, but when he looked around, Eugene was gone. Strange, Bruce thought. He went on his way, head up toward the sky, looking for the rainbow. He forgot to look at what’s was in front of him though. He ran into a tree trunk, and blacked out.
He awoke to water being poured on him.
"You alright?" a deep voice asked.
"Yeah, I think I will be fine," Bruce replied, "thanks."
Bruce got up and took a good look at the creature standing in front of him. He was a black Pegasus, with the biggest wings Bruce had ever seen. Bruce took a step back. He had heard stories about black Pegasus’s and they weren't very good ones. They were nothing but trouble.
Bruce tried to back away more, but the Pegasus’s voice stopped him, "Where do you come from?"
"I come from the north," said Bruce timidly.
"Ahh, I see," the Pegasus said, "What brings you to the north?"
Bruce wasn't sure if he should tell him, but maybe he would know where the rainbow was. So Bruce told him, "The queen sent me on a mission to find the rainbow because we are running out of rainbow dust."
"The rainbow?" the Pegasus said with a strange look on his face, "My name is Damien, and I think that I can help you."
Bruce was surprised by this, "Really? You know where the rainbow is?"
"Yes. Come with me," said Damien.
It just occurred to Bruce that he didn't know anything about Damien. Those stories that he heard about black Pegasus’s could be true, but he says that he knows where the rainbow is. Bruce had to go with him. Bruce agreed.
"Great! Hop on!" Damien said pulling out a large sled.
"I have to get on that?" Bruce asked, slightly afraid that it would not hold his weight.
"Of course! Believe me, it will be much quicker if we fly there. Walking takes much too long," Damien said.
Bruce walked onto the asked slowly, hoping that whatever happens, it will not break. Then they were off, flying right over the trees. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw it, the rainbow. It was right there. But what were they doing to it? There were tons of black Pegasus’s crowded around the rainbow. They were building something to cover it. Then Damien landed.
"What are you doing!?" Bruce yelled.
But Damien was already walking away from him, and when Bruce tried to run after him, he was stopped by three black Pegasus’s.
"What do you want us to do with him boss?" One of them asked Damien.
"Take him to the crate," replied Damien.
Bruce was thrown into a large wooden crate and locked in. There were many holes in the crate, so Bruce could see what the black Pegasus’s were doing outside. Bruce then heard a whisper coming from the other side of the crate.
"Psst! Bruce, over here!" The whisper said.
Bruce walked to the other side if the crate and found Fern standing there.
"We've got to get you out of there!" said Fern.
"Fern? What are you doing here?" Bruce asked, "How did you find me?"
"I followed you here after you left the west side of the forest." replied fern, "Good thing I did too."
"Get me out of here!" said Bruce.
Fern quickly got the lock off of the crate. Bruce ran towards where all of the black Pegasus’s were.
Damien saw him coming, "Hey! How did you get out of the crate?"
Bruce stopped running and said, "I had a little help." He turned around to face Fern.
She said, "Yeah. And I brought some help too."
From behind Fern, bunnies start hopping out. There were way more than attacked Bruce the day before, thousands of them.
"Oh look," Damien said, "little bunnies. How scary. There is nothing that you and you little friends can do to stop me from taking the rainbow dust and keeping it for myself. I am going to be the most powerful Pegasus in all of RainbowLand."
Bruce looked to Fern, and Fern yelled, "Attack!"
The bunnies started charging at all of the black Pegasus’s, and Bruce began to fight Damien. After a little while, Bruce had Damien pinned to the ground and Damien surrendered. Together Bruce, Fern, and the bunnies took the black Pegasus’s into the crate and locked them in.
Then Bruce walked over to the rainbow and knocked over the contraption that was beginning to cover it. Fern and the bunnies came rushing over to Bruce.
"We did it!" They exclaimed.
Then the queen of RainbowLand and Eugene showed up to congratulate Bruce on a job well done.
“I knew that I could count on you to get the job done,” said the queen.
“Thank you queen of RainbowLand!” replied Bruce. Then Bruce jumped back onto his hind legs in celebration!
